Epic House, with the letter 'C'

A couple of old favourites from 1995 for today's letter, "C". Chris & James took the infamous Samuel L. Jackson speech from Pulp Fiction and laid it over some melodic pads and a bouncy house beat for their track Fox Force Five, released on Stress Records. The original mix sounds rather dated and cheesy now but I think the Big C mix still holds up alright. It was always my favourite version anyway, I just love that long piano solo in the second half. Tracks like this and BT's early output really hit me hard and I longed to make music like it. I recently found out that Big C, probably best know for his own track Ice Rain, is in fact Groove Armada's very own Andy Cato.

The second track today is even more epic than the first. I remember hearing it for the first time on Pete Tong's Essential Selection, I think it's pretty safe to say that it blew me away. Starting from nothing but washes of water on the beach, it works its way through a spoken male vocal, strings, timpani, alarms, piano, a choir and a violin solo - all with a thumping early progressive house backing.
